Metaverse Production

In late 2022, we were approached by our returning client Wave and VR studio Pico to create high-quality metaverse assets for the virtual BEYOND series featuring live avatar performances from artists such as Speaker Honey, Rinzen, Marbs, SOHMI, and Worthy.​

The Challenge

This production was particularly challenging because of the ambitiously complex environments that had been designed. In order to create optimized assets that would perform on each supported device, our tech artists had to plan for processing power and bandwidth.

Furthermore, there were unique interactions planned for the performances, such as the ability to change environments by audience vote or "gift" avatar heads to the virtual performer. This meant we had to create assets that would animate in and out, and respond to lighting and VFX.

Solution

Our team used a combination of cutting-edge tools and techniques to create high-quality VFX, art and animation that would perform well on mobile platforms. Our level-of-detail optimization (LOD) reduced the complexity of assets in real-time to ensure that the final experience would do not cause any lag or delays while running on lower-end devices.

Results

The concert was a huge success. With the metaverse assets we provided, Pico and Wave were able to enhance their user experience for the event on every supported device for the series of performances featured.
